Meet the Team

A small management team and business-led board of directors actively supports the Bowie Business Innovation Center (Bowie BIC) business accelerator community.  This team is comprised of area entrepreneurs, seasoned business executives and entrepreneurial resources.  Bowie BIC is a Maryland nonprofit organization headquartered at the Center for Business at Bowie State University.

BOARD TREASURER

Greg Bussink is a Principal at CliftonLarsonAllen LLP (CLA).  For over 20 years, Greg has served his client’s as their auditor and trusted advisor — providing meaningful and practical recommendations in order to achieve financial success.

BOARD RECORDING SECRETARY

Crystal Clark is the Operations Director & Student Liaison. She has over 15 years of experience in business administration.She oversees website and social media outreach. She also supports meetings and event execution.

Denita R. Conway is an award-winning strategic planning and risk mitigation executive and one of the capital region’s leading African American businesswomen.  She is the Founder and President of PROVEN Management, LLC

C-SUITE ADVISOR

Nathaniel Elliott is a serial entrepreneur and solution architect at offLabs. He started the non-profit “Living Hope” after driving a school bus 70,000 miles across America—raising over $150,000 in 70 days—to build schools in Africa.

Magdalena Gebrekristos has over 20 years of experience in providing technology consulting, project management, quality assurance, system development life cycle, and information systems security services to top government agencies.

Marie V. Hightower holds a Master’s degree from the University of South Carolina, Columbia SC. She began her banking career in 2003 and joined M&T Bank in 2007 through a merger. Marie was a Regional Trainer in the Greater Washington/Baltimore Area.

Wendy Jenkins is a Senior Business Banker at Capital One Bank and assists her clients in many areas to include gaining access to the capital, growing their deposits, efficiently managing their cash flow, and linking likeminded professionals to enhance connections in the market.

ENTREPRENEUR-IN-RESIDENCE

QC Jones is a Business Strategist and Entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience having owned multiple companies. He wins single award contracts, Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) and Government-Wide Acquisitions Contracts.

BOARD MEMBER

John Henry King is the Economic Development Director for the City of Bowie, Maryland, where he has worked since 2001. He has served in economic development positions for over 29 years. He brings strong community ties to the Board.

BOARD CHAIRMAN

Mark Lawrence is a technology innovation manager and visionary leader with more than 21 years of experience. He has 17 years of consulting experience and 4 years with major telecommunications service providers.

BOARD MEMBER

Jerry Miller, principal in Joseph, Greenwald & Laake’s Business Serv. Grp., has helped clients tackle the legal challenges of owning and operating a business. Jerry has extensive experience in commercial real estate, including acquisitions.

BOARD VICE CHAIRMAN

Sherman Leon Ragland, II has been described by Inc. Magazine  as “America’s Real Estate Mentor!” He is a dedicated student of real estate and real estate acquisition/development and creative asset disposition.

BOARD CHAIRMAN EMERITUS

Adam Santavicca has been a senior manager with both public and private companies for more than 30 years. His longest stay was 18 years with Anacomp, an international information technology service provider.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Lisa Smith is President of North Star Innovation Partners LLC, a woman-owned economic development management and consulting firm specializing in the development of strategies and programs that drive innovation in communities.

Eben Smith, President at Three|E Consulting Group, has 20+ of business management experience in both the public and private sector with key emphasis in supplier diversity, business development, procurement, and compliance.

Charlene Wade has over 37 years of experience in business, with 32 of those years spent in human resource management. Her career has culminated in her current role as President of Workforce Resources, Inc.
