Who We Are

A small management team and business-led board of directors actively supports the Bowie Business Innovation Center (Bowie BIC) business accelerator community.  This team is comprised of area entrepreneurs, seasoned business executives and entrepreneurial resources.  Bowie BIC is a Maryland nonprofit organization headquartered at the Center for Business at Bowie State University.

Board Recording Secretary

Crystal Clark is the Operations Director & Student Liaison. She has over 15 years of experience in business operations and administration. In her position, she oversees website management as well as social media outreach.  She also provides support for meeting planning and event execution.

John Henry King is the Economic Development Director for the City of Bowie, Maryland, where he has worked since 2001.  He has served in economic development positions for over 29 years.

Sherman Leon Ragland, II has been described by Inc. Magazine  as “America’s Real Estate Mentor!” He is a dedicated student of real estate and real estate acquisition/development and creative asset disposition.

Adam has been a senior manager with both public and private companies for more than 30 years. His longest stay with a public company was 18 years with Anacomp, an international information technology service provider.

Marcus A. Smith Sr. joined M&T Bank in 2008 as a Senior Business Banker covering the Prince George’s County market and was promoted to a Team Leader in 2011. He worked at Bank of American prior to joining M&T Bank.

Ms. Wade possesses over 37 years of experience in the business arena, with approximately 32 of those years spent in human resource management.  Her career has been comprised of progressively challenging positions, culminating in her current role as President of Workforce Resources, Inc. (“Workforce”).

Anthony C. Nelson, Ph.D.

Board ex officio

Anthony C. Nelson is the dean of the College of Business at Bowie State University (BSU). He is responsible for the overall operation of the college, which involves strategic planning, budgeting, personnel management, curricula and instructional management, and other academic matters.  He created an Entrepreneurship Academy within the College of Business, as well as a Student Hatchery to support BSU student entrepreneurs. He led the university’s efforts, in concert with the City of Bowie and Prince George’s County, to locate the Bowie Business Innovation Center on campus in 2011.

QC Jones is a Business Strategist and Entrepreneur with over twenty (20) years of experience having owned multiple companies: TMI Solutions, Inc., iFed LLC (acquired by Deloitte), iFed2 LLC, Advanced Intuitive Initiatives (Aii) and his latest project, Nolan|Mackenzie Development LLC (dba: Nolan|Mackenzie).

He is an experienced leader with an exceptional record of accomplishment winning single award contracts, Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQs) and Government-Wide Acquisitions Contracts (GWACs).

Jerry Miller

A principal in Joseph, Greenwald & Laake’s Business Services Group, Jerry Miller has helped clients large and small tackle the legal challenges of owning and operating a business, from choosing the right corporate structure and working out a first lease, to advising seasoned entrepreneurs on a wide variety of complex business issues and, ultimately, helping clients transition their business to a succeeding generation of ownership. In addition to his business practice, Jerry also has extensive experience in commercial real estate, including leases, sales, and acquisitions.

Marie holds a Master’s degree from The University of South Carolina, Columbia SC. Throughout her career Marie has made important contributions to the goals and objectives of current and previous employers. Marie began her banking career in 2003 and joined M&T Bank in 2007 through a merger. At the time of the First Horizon merger, Marie was a Regional Trainer in the Greater Washington/Baltimore Area.
